Footer
Build Vellmar's footer from brand, menu, text and email signup blocks, with payment icons, policies and a large store name.
The footer closes every page. It's built from up to six blocks, followed by a bottom row with the country and language selectors, Follow on Shop, payment icons, your copyright and policy links. Below everything, it can show your store name in very large type, sized to fit the full width of the screen.
The blocks you can add:
- Brand information: a short statement, text and your social media icons. Add the social media accounts in Theme settings → Social media.
- Menu: a list of links from one of your menus.
- Text: a heading and text, for example your address and opening hours.
- Email signup: a newsletter form. Signups are added to your customer list with email marketing consent.
- Custom Liquid: your own code, such as an app snippet.
On phones, Menu and Text blocks fold into accordions so the footer stays short.
Best practices
- Three or four blocks are enough. A brand statement, one or two menus and an email signup cover most stores.
- Keep the statement short. One sentence that says what you make, like "Objects for slower days, made to be lived with."
- Add your policies. Show policy links lists the policies you set in Shopify admin, such as refund and privacy policies. Shoppers look for them here.
- Payment icons follow your settings. They show the payment methods turned on in your store, so you don't have to maintain them.
- Shorten the large text. Large text replaces the store name in the big wordmark. A short word or brand mark reads better than a long store name.
Preset tips
- All three presets use Scheme 3, the darkest scheme, for the footer, so it frames the page and contrasts with the light sections above it.
- The large store name works best with Vellmar's and Sorrel's serif heading fonts and Graphite's heavy uppercase Archivo. Turn it off with Show large store name if your logo already says enough.
